Exploring the Catskills Local Spotlight Delhi, NY Blue Bee Cafe

Local Spotlight on Blue Bee Cafe

By Briana Riera

There are a lot of reasons to visit Delhi, NY--the political and cultural center of Delaware County. The village is the region’s liveliest gathering place and includes a well-kept three-block Main Street with a variety of stores, restaurants and cafes. Among them is local favorite Blue Bee Cafe, a delightful juxtaposition of old storybook decor and modern day cuisine. The Blue Bee Cafe catches your eye immediately with its classic large-windowed storefront, quaint flower-filled window boxes, and hand-painted sign hanging above the entrance. Whether you were planning to stop or not, most likely, you’ll be pulled inside. And once over the threshold, the aromatic pastry-filled display case mesmerizes.

The Blue Bee is open daily from 10am to 4pm. The hours, and the menu were designed to cater to late risers, people venturing to town for lunch while visiting from the city, local business folks meeting for lunch, and just anyone looking for healthy fresh food that is a step (or 3 steps) above standard morning-lunch time fare. Take for example a few of our go-to items- the avocado tartine with kale salad, the huge caesar salad with yummy homemade dressing, and the gigantic Mexican salad with black beans and quinoa in a chile lime dressing with lettuce, avocado, and sour cream.

The menu has something for everyone with offerings such as old-fashioned sandwiches (think classic BLT and meatloaf from local grass fed beef, etc) pressed paninis, tartines, meal-sized salads, omelets, crepes, homemade soups and signature sides of kale, beet and orzo salads. And of course, there are those pastries—giant chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies, scones, cup cakes, croissants and more that can cap a meal, or simply be the treat you pamper yourself with. Not to be overlooked are the drinks, which as you’d expect include perfectly drawn shots of espresso, cappuccinos, american coffees, chais, and a huge assortment of Tay Teas, including our favorite flavors Catskill Harvest and Azul!

If you’re in the village, driving through the village, or passing outside it, do yourself a favor and schedule a stop at the Blue Bee. From the giant cups of coffee ☕️ and large selection of pastries, to the interesting and unique 🥑 menu items, this spot is a local gem. The food is always fresh and yummy. Pro tip: they tend to get busy 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 (we’re not the only people who love it!) so arrive a little early 🕑 and take a giant cookie🍪🍪🍪 to go when you’re done.
