Those seeking escape in the Hamptons, meet the Catskills! While the Catskills has often been referred to as the alternate destination from the Hamptons, 2016 saw some big changes to real estate demand along the South Fork (read Business Insider's take here “The future of the Hamptons is uncertain as prices plummet and luxury buyers head north”. With open spaces, rich cultural life and great real estate prices, the mountains above NYC are quickly becoming the New destination.

Many from their 20s to their 50s are finding exceptional value in the homes along State Route 28, from Kingston to Delhi. The small villages, hamlets and towns along this most scenic of by-ways offer travelers and investors opportunities simply not available on the tip of Long Island. There are private communities like Tunis Lake offering year-round amenities many urbanites have come to expect. Exceptional mountainside chalets with soaring cathedral ceilings and 360 degree views dot the mountainsides. The historically minded will appreciate classic Victorians in the villages. Farm houses with spacious acreage allows much-needed breathing room for the space challenged Chelsean. Brooklynites are sure to find the rich cultural diversity they have come to know and love wrapped in a package of green fields, sweeping vistas and exciting discoveries.
